A Christmas Message from the Doctor

BBC One is now using the 2009 Christmas Doctor Who themed idents in anger as we approach the annual celebration and The End of Time - and there’s more to it than just a couple of reindeer romps.

Released today are these two “between programmes” clips of David Tennant as the Doctor wishing everyone a Merry Christmas – breaking the fourth wall in a way that hasn’t been seen in Doctor Who for many years and no doubt the cause of Russell T Davies’ speculation about what it would do to canon.

They’re both quite similar – this is the first:
