Doctor Who Nominated

Set to be announced on Sunday, 29th November at the Free Word Centre in London, the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain has announced the shortlists for its 2009 Awards – and Doctor Who is nominated under the category “Television drama series.”

For the uninitiated, the Writers’ Guild a trade union that represents writers in TV, radio, theatre, books, poetry, film, and even those writing online and for video games.

Doctor Who’s competition for the title is tough:

Television drama series

Being Human, by Toby Whitehouse

Doctor Who, various writers

Little Dorrit, adapted by Andrew Davies from the novel by Charles Dickens

Previous success for Doctor Who with the Writer’s Guild awards has seen the 2007 named best TV series while the final Jon Pertwee series (season 11) saw the show honoured for “best writing in a children’s serial”.
