Moffatt Hails Matt Smith

Against a backdrop of Waters of Mars airdates and a sad David Tennant, Steven Moffat has hailed new Doctor Who Matt Smith as the best yet!

(Of course, he would say that – he picked him!)

Steven Moffat proclaimed Matt Smith as “the best” and described him as resembling a “drunken giraffe”.

“He’s all the things you’d expect, including ancient,” he revealed, describing the new Doctor as “someone you can’t take your eyes off”.

Speaking at the 2009 Screenwriters’ Festival in Cheltenham, Moffat also told listeners that he’s currently writing episode 13 of the 2010 series. It’s not all plain sailng being in charge of Doctor Who, however…

“What if I broke Doctor Who? That would be a tragedy,” he said at the 2009 Screenwriters’ Festival in Cheltenham.

“Yes, you do feel [the] pressure,” he added.

Shooting continues on the first series under Moffat’s stewardship, with Matt Smith expected to step out of the TARDIS his as the Doctor in the Spring.
