Barrowman in Demand

Torchwood and Doctor Who star John Barrowman has revealed that he’s been turning down roles in order to star in La Cage Aux Folles at the Playhouse in London this Autumn.

John BarrowmanBarrowman – who plays drag queen Zaza in the show – revealed to thelondonpaper that he had not turned down one but two major US TV shows.

Barrowman said: “I’m going to be completely honest. Over the last two weeks, I have been offered Grey’s Anatomy, a major part. I’ve been offered a major part in House.

“I’ve turned them down because I’m doing La Cage. And yes, I met with the creator of Desperate Housewives and he talked about writing a role for me… So who knows?”

John Barrowman’s run in La Cage (whose plot you may recognise from the 1996 movie The Birdcage) is from September 14 until November 28. The current cast also features Tracie Bennett (Joking Apart), and Roger Allam (Ashes to Ashes)
