The Sword of Damocles

David Tennant and Russell T Davies have recently taken part in an interview for the Sky TV website, covering many aspects of Doctor Who since 2005 and of course a mention of the San Diego Comic Con.

Let’s get to the meat first of all – an explanation by David Tennant of the mood of the Doctor in 2009.

Planet of the Dead was the last hurrah for the 10th Doctor. He was in mortal danger, but he was loving it. Really, from The Waters of Mars and heading into that final story, the sword of Damocles is dangling, and that informs everything that goes on.

There’s plenty of set pics from Waters of Mars on the interview pages as well (scroll to the bottom).

So what about Comic Con? It seemed so rock’n’roll – and apparently it was.

It was such an extraordinary experience. I wanted to crowd dive, but they were all sitting down. It was a bit disappointing for me. I figured that was probably the only opportunity in my life that I was going to get to do that. I should have done it.

Hmmm, we reckon Children In Need 2008 when David took to the stage with Franz Ferdinand would have been a good time too.

Oh and while we’re back on Comic Con stuff, here’s a superbly edited collection of David Tennant at the San Diego event:

…and there’s a great collection of other videos including the Torchwood panel right here on YouTube. Thanks to Nina Wolfson for sending these links.
