Classic Moments

If you’ve been watching Doctor Who’s Greatest Moments on BBC Three and sat baffled as the talking heads and clips focussed on ther last 5 years of a 46 year old show, you’re not alone.

Thankfully Digital Spy have risked infringing copyright law and provided clips to accompany their own list of classic moments featuring the first eight Doctors…

Dalek Invasion of Earth – the Doctor locks Susan out of the TARDIS

Tomb of the Cybermen – “They… sleep in my mind and I forget”

The Three Doctors – “It’s all quite simple. I am he and he is me.”

The Ark in Space – “Indomitable!”

Earthshock - the Doctor faces off the CyberLeader

Revelation of the Daleks – the Doctor faces off Davros

Survival - “If we fight like animals, we’ll die like animals!”

TV Movie – the kiss.

It’s a great selection but it does have a drawback. Listing these 8 clips as greatest moments not only does the 1963-1996 era a disservice it also underlines how narrowly conceived Doctor Who’s Greatest Moments is.

There’s also not enough Christopher Eccleston material in the show – it really should have been called “David Tennant’s Greatest Moments”…

Christian Cawley

A long-term Doctor Who fan, Christian grew up watching the show and has early memories of the Graham Williams era. His favourite stories are Inferno, The Seeds of Doom and Human Nature (although The Empty Child, Blink and Utopia all come close). When he’s not bossing around the news team, Christian is a freelance writer specialising in mobile technology and domestic computing, and enjoys classic rock, cooking and spending time in the countryside with his wife and young children. You can find him on Twitter, Facebook and Google+.
