Tom Baker Audio Return!

Under the shadow of Matt Smith’s dicky bow, Amy’s pond and the song of another character, one particularly thrilling – and long rumoured – piece of Doctor Who news was revealed this week. Tom Baker is back as the Doctor!

Tom Baker returns to Doctor WhoIf rumours are to believed, Tom has been asked countless times to do various audio projects for both the BBC and Big Finish, and it seems that it is the Beeb that got lucky in coaxing the Fourth Doctor back out of Tom for a Paul Magrs-penned adventure Hornet’s Nest, reports the Press Association.

Writer Paul Magrs told The Sun: “I can picture the very moment he turned back into the Doctor – one minute it was introductions and actorly chat and then, all of a sudden, he was rehearsing lines.

He continued: “His first was, ‘Hello, I’m the Doctor’. It was a very shivery moment.”

Tom Baker is joined by companion UNIT’s Captain Mike Yates – reprised by Richard Franklin who never appeared alongside the Fourth Doctor in the series, his character written out in Planet of the Spiders – just one episode before Tom Baker debuted in Robot, back in 1974.

Thrilling stuff – we’ve been saving this one up for ages!
