The Trickster’s Brigade…

All is quiet on the Doctor Who front post-Torchwood, so it’s interesting to see how the press are keeping the series in the news. This time it’s all about a rather audacious conman…

The Mirror have reported the case of a conman who managed to get some free lodgings by posing as a producer on Doctor Who.

You would think that people would be more aware of tricksters – but of course as we’ve seen in world events over the last 40 years, the taller the story, the more willing people are to believe it.

A conman who tricked the managers of a luxury flat into letting him stay there by posing as a Doctor Who producer was jailed for 10 weeks yesterday.

Steven Murphy, 28, said he was filming on location in Swansea and the BBC would pay his £1,778 rent.

Thankfully for both the landlord and the conman, some called the BBC and checked; meanwhiel the conman gets away with 10 weeks in prison, a pretty light sentence that could have been far more if no one had checked.
