Pop star Lily Allen – whose songs are catchy but I cannot name them – is apparently pursuing the second role in the Steven Moffat era Doctor Who. She wants to be the Doctor’s new best friend.
“Oh yeah, I have my eye on that project. I’m a massive fan of ‘Doctor Who’, and me and Matt are in the same age bracket, so it would look far better if they had someone like me.”
Those words apparently uttered to New Magazine,
Naturally Ms Allen’s continued link with the role is going to raise eyebrows all-round, but of course there is a precedent.,,
A source said: “Billie Piper used ‘Doctor Who’ for her transition from music to acting. We think Lily can emulate that.
“The great thing about the show is it’s good fun but still a cool thing to be involved with. It would be perfect for Lily and she would be perfect for the show.”
Both Billie Piper and Lily Allen have of course attended theatrical school; dramatic ability is naturally something that is quite imnportant in such establishments, and given Allen’s father is the actor Keith Allen, there should be no question whether or not the popular vocalist can sing.
The question should be: would Steven Moffat follow the RTD era with cookie-cutter companion casting?
