Room With A Deja View

Comics industry gossip-monger Rich Johnston has written a new one-shot release for IDW, publishers of Doctor Who comic books. He’s chatted with the MTV (yes, MTV) website about Doctor Who, comics and Room With A Deja View.

The story concerns the investigation of a murder perpetrated by “a member of a species that lives in the opposite direction to the timeline” – a superb concept. With events happening contrary to the flow of normal time throughout the book, it certainly sounds like one to get hold of.

Johnston seems pretty excited with the whole project still, meanwhile, seeing himself now as a “footnote” in Doctor Who history.

Now, if only [“Doctor Who” ongoing writer] Tony Lee could die and I could step up to write the ongoing series. You know, be [upcoming “Doctor Who” TV series lead writer] Steven Moffat to Tony’s Russell T Davies [former “Doctor Who” lead writer]. But will Tony take the cyanide pills I keep sending to him? No, he feeds them to pigeons instead. And then he laughs as they fall from the sky. He’s a cruel man, that Tony Lee.

That would be one way, certainly.

Room With A Deja View is scheduled for release in July and features art by EricJ and this cover by Tom Mandrake.
