Torchwood Date Speculation

Torchwood.tv have published an interesting piece on the possible likely date for the return of Torchwood – and it seems to be one of the great riddles of 2009…

Speculation has been rife since the middle of 2008 that Torchwood: Children of Earth would air on BBC One as early as February 2009.  WIth key production personnel set to move to Doctor Who in May, it had seemed likely that an Easter or April broadcast would occur.

As Torchwood.tv point out however, one of the bastions of British sci-fi publishing, SFX, have no notice of any Torchwood preview or behind-the-scenes in their next issue. As Torchwood: Children of Earth is the first 5-part sci-fi mini series produced in Britain and the first aired on BBC One, this is significant.

Add to the mix the almost certain 9pm timeslot and the return of Ashes to Ashes in April (can’t wait for that!) then that leaves Torchwood’s return as late as June.

However as Torchwood.tv point out, Digital Spy has Torchwood scheduled for airing in April.

It’s an interesting collection of facts, speculation and reasoned argument – give it a read!
