Peter Purves in Coventry

Former Doctor Who and Blue Peter star Peter Purves is embarking on book signing tour to promote his autobiography, and the tour has taken him across the South East, South West and Midlands, and last Saturday on to Coventry – a city gripped by Doctor Who fever following the launch of the Doctor Who exhibition..

Here’s One I Wrote Earlier was published February 10th, and has proved popular, with Purves appearing extensively on TV and radio to promote it.

He said: “Believe it or not it’s mostly been Dr Who fans who’ve been queuing up to see me today. It’s no doubt because of the exhibition that’s taking place nearby.

“It’s good to be back in the area. When we lived near Rugby from 1987-1992 we used to come into Coventry quite a lot to go to the cinema. “I also remember coming here as a trainee teacher in the 1950s to look at all the post-war developments. But what I most love about the city is the cathedral, which I’ve actually been around this morning.”

For more information on Peter Purves, visit his website, – he’s in Colchester this Friday I believe if you want to catch him there.

Meanwhile, Here’s One I Wrote Earlier is available from Amazon for just £11.39, and should be of huge interest to fans of 1960s celebrity and pop stars not to mention Doctor Who it covers Peter’s time on the series and namechecks some interesting relationships…
