It’s Hannah Murray – News of the World

No Eleventh Doctor news and speculation for weeks and then two come along at once – and News of the World reckon that Skins actress Hannah Murray is going to be joining Matt Smith in the TARDIS!

Hannah Murray is best known for her work as the heart-breakingly troubled Cassie Ainsworth in Skins (who suffers from anorexia nervosa, bulimia, self harm, drug addiction and low self esteem) and is apparently considered – by one of those BBC insiders – to be a perfect choice to follow in the footsteps of Billie Piper, Freema Agyeman and Catherine Tate.

“Hannah did some challenging stuff in Skins and they see her as an up-and-comer."

Murray has also recently completed work on an episode of Marple (Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?) as "Dorothy Savage" alongside Julia McKenzie as Miss Marple and one Georgia Moffet (The Doctor’s Daughter).

The most obvious parallels are with Billie Piper: Hannah has a lovely natural appearance with striking eyes and a lovely big smile, and will be the new Doctor’s first companion…
