BBC Cutbacks Hit Doctor Who

The Mirror reports that Doctor Who is among a raft of high profile TV shows to face cutbacks.

The plans will see the BBC’s soap jewel EastEnders reduce costs by £2.5million over five years as the with new talent replacing high-profile signings to reduce a mounting BBC wage bill.

Doctor Who, Strictly Come Dancing and Top Gear are all joining EastEnders in cutting costs by 5 per cent under the BBC’s five-year plan.

EastEnders boss Diederick Santer said: “This is across the board. All shows are affected not just East-Enders – Strictly, Dr Who, everyone has been told the same thing. But we will try not to let it affect the quality of the show or talent.”
