Barrowman on Song

Theatre website Playbill.com reports that John Barrowman has an entire stage to himself this summer as BBC Radio Two’s Friday Night is Music Night becomes Friday Night is Movie Night – giving the Torchwood star the chance to sing classic numbers from the silver screen.

Hosted by Sir Michael Parkinson, the July 10th concert "Pure Gold from the Silver Screen" will be held at the Henley Festival. John Barrowman will headline with vocal quartet Cantabile – The London Quartet also appearing on stage.  The event will be recorded by BBC Radio 2 for future broadcast.

As well as being the star of Torchwood and a regular guest star in Doctor Who, John Barrowman is an accomplished star of musical theatre.  His musical roles include:

  • Billy Crocker in Anything Goes at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.
  • The Stephen Sondheim revue Putting It Together on Broadway
  • Grease!
  • The Phantom of the Opera
  • The Fix
  • Miss Saigon
  • Beauty and the Beast

If you’ve never heard him sing – and there are some people who haven’t – you can purchase and download John Barrowman MP3s from Amazon.
