Doctor Who has been nominated under the category of Best Drama Series at the 2009 BAFTA Awards, with the Andy Serkis and David Tennant-starring Einstein and Eddington also nominated.

Doctor Who is listed under the Best Drama Series category alongside some interesting opposition:

  • Doctor Who (BBC One)
  • Shameless (Channel 4)
  • Spooks (BBC One)
  • Wallander (BBC One)

Meanwhile, Einstein and Eddington which starred David Tennant is nominated with:

  • Einstein and Eddington (BBC Two)
  • Hancock and Joan (BBC Four)
  • The Shooting of Thomas Hurndall (Channel 4)
  • White Girl (BBC Two)

Congratulations to all nominated of course, including EastEnders’ June Brown, a veteran of television who has received her first BAFTA nomination in the Best Actress category, and once appeared in Doctor Who in 1973’s The Time Warrior as Lady Eleanor.
