Colin Baker – Fogie Who

Sixth Doctor Colin Baker has recently returned from a certain high profile North American convention – and revealed his relief at still being popular with the fans despite the younger models of David Tennant and Matt Smith.

Writing in his regular newspaper column, Colin expressed his delight despite being an "old fogie".

"It is heartening that they are still prepared to tolerate the old fogies who used to portray the nation’s favourite Time Lord in the age of the new improved programme and the ever youthening Doctor.

I would think this has been a longh time coming of course, with both Paul McGann and Christopher Eccleston noticeably younger than Baker – not to mention David Tennant.

Perhaps the casting of Matt Smith was the straw that broke the camels back?

"As if David Tennant hadn’t already proved the visibly beneficial power of time travel on the genes, the imminent new one, Matt Smith, we are told, is so young that he is likely to be asked for ID if he tries to purchase an intergalactic gargle blaster in licensed premises either side of the Atlantic."

Amusingly, it also seems that Colin unknowingly bumped into (one imagines she went flying)  former Baywatch actress and rock bicycle Pamela Anderson in the region of a Belgian chocolateer’s in Santa Monica.

Update

There’s more on this from the Canadian Hello Magazine – and it seems there was a Simpsons-related exchange outside the Chocolateers, which one gathers involves Colin impersonating Homer Simpson (despite his build…)

"I would love to think she said to her female companion that I looked a bit like the bloke who used to play Doctor Who. No, not Tom! The other one!".

The story really does get more bizarre.
