Planet of the Dead Monsters

Get ready for the Tritovore!

If tabloid sources are to be believed, the alien villains of Planet of the Dead are set to be remembered for a long, long time, with writers Russell T Davies and Gareth Roberts confident that they have created an iconic new Doctor Who villain.

A set source said: “Scriptwriters are confident they’ll make a huge impact.

“Everyone remembers the Daleks and the Cyberman, but not a lot else if they’re honest.

“The Tritovore will change that. They are disgusting and will last long in the memory.”

The writers have got together and created a race of what are described in The Mirror as “a halfman half-fly creature”, known as the Tritovore.

Wanting the creatures to become as iconic as the Daleks and Cybermen is one thing – but surely the Krillitane and the Sycorax are just as good a candidate for a modern iconic foe?

The return of the Sycorax would also make a nice circular link to the Tenth Doctor’s lifespan – as we all know, time is running out.

However it seems that Russell T Davies is planning to pit the Doctor against the Tritovore in the remaining three specials.

The source added: “Russell is telling everybody to expect some real surprises. He wants him to go out with a bang.”
