Planet of the Dead – Break from the Past

In the most recent Doctor Who Magazine, Russell T Davies has revealed that the upcoming Doctor Who "Easter Special" will serve as an "antidote" to recent adventures by the writer, such as The Stolen Earth and The Next Doctor.

With two adventures on the trot featuring returning elements – not least villains the Daleks and then the Cybermen – it certainly seems sensible, so Planet of the Dead is set to be a genuine "one-off":

"After the events of ‘Journey’s End’ and ‘The Next Doctor’ I think it’s time to get away from the past and have an adventure with lots of new elements. And lots of fun too!

"The next Special should be a nice antidote to Christmas, with a bit of sunshine if we’re lucky. And with not one but two alien races that you’ve never seen before."

Certainly sounds promising – new aliens! You can never say no to new aliens, can you?
