Michelle Ryan in Doctor Who?

The newspapers have been chattering about the possibility of ex-EastEnders star Michelle Ryan joining the cast of Doctor Who as the 11th Doctor’s companion.

Ryan – who also starred in the short-lived US remake of the 1970s hit The Bionic Woman – has previously appeared in incoming Doctor Who showrunner’s series Jekyll, as well as appearing in the Saturday evening drama Merlin.

According to one newspaper, the not unattractive and reasonably talented Ms Ryan has been in “secret talks with BBC bosses” to become Matt Smith’s companion in the 2010 series of Doctor Who.

“They are likely to announce her as Doctor Who’s new assistant very soon. She is perfect for the role. She is good looking and the right age to star alongside Matt. Everyone agrees they look great together and reckon fans will think they’re the perfect team too.”

“It’s an incredible opportunity for her and even though she’s had a lot of success already she is still young and at the start of her career.”

Michelle Ryan is believed to have auditioned for a companion role on Doctor Who, with The Telegraph speculating that this followed Billie Piper’s departure from the show.
