Billie on Doctor 11

Billie Piper is currently promoting her most recent series of Secret Diary of a Call Girl in the USA as part of the Television Critics Association pres tour (wow, sounds like a party) and was asked about her Ruby in the Smoke and The Shadow of the North co-star, 11th Doctor Matt Smith

Matt Smith has also appeared in a guest role on Secret Diary and appeared as Jim Taylor in the BBC One adaptations of the Sally Lockhart adventures by Phillip Pullman.

When Piper’s history with Smith was brought up, she said, "Yes, of course! He’s lovely. I’d worked with him before on the [Sally] Lockhart mysteries," referring to her TV movies, The Ruby in the Smoke and The Shadow in the North. Added Piper, "That’s why we were keen to get him on Secret Diary."

As for how Smith will do as The Doctor, Piper said, "He has the perfect energy and zest for life that that character needs. I’m sure he’ll do really well."

Billie was also asked about the 2008 Doctor Who series finale, which is yet to air in some territories.
