Barrowman Hosts New Show

Torchwood is set to return for a short run in a couple of months time, so what better time for its star John Barrowman – a man as familiar to television as bank bosses are to bonuses – to return to the BBC One Saturday night gameshow format.

This time, the show is called Tonight’s the Night in which members of the public with aspirations to perform will get to live out their fantasies, in a sort of Jim’ll Fix It meets X Factor way, but without the auditions.

The deadline for applications is February 9th, which would certainly line the show up with broadcast at around the same time as Torchwood: Children of Earth.

"I am so excited to be part of this new BBC One entertainment format on Saturday nights. As well as being packed with showbiz razzle-dazzle and celebrity guests, I’m really looking forward to finding the unlikely stars out there, putting a little extra sparkle in their life and helping them realise their dreams.

"It’s pure entertainment and all about making people’s wishes come true."

With all of those TV and stage appearances, it seems that John Barrowman still has the time to run his own production company – Tonight’s The Night is a co-production between BBC Entertainment Productions and Barrowman Barker Productions
