Whispering Gallery from IDW

Whispering Gallery from IDWThe next Doctor Who offering from comic book house IDW is Doctor Who: Whispering Gallery, written by Leah Moore and John Reppion and illustrated in the remarkable style of Ben Templesmith.

Speaking to Comic Book Resources, Leah Moore revealed how inspiration for the plot came to her in the middle of the night.

“We were trying to come up with a pitch to send in to IDW and having a really hard time thinking of anything… Everything we could think up had already been done, or was not the right kind of story. We went off to bed one night after brainstorming fruitlessly for hours…

“I woke up and said loudly, ‘I know what we are doing for Doctor Who!’ which woke John up. We got it turned round in a week or so after that. Pretty fast for us.”

Whispering Galaxy whisks the Doctor and Martha Jones (pre-Utopia) to an alien planet where displaying emotions is outlawed, and features alien characters.

Remarkably, Moore & Reppion got together with Templesmith via a message through the Twitter microblogging service.

With the writers describing Ben Templesmith "a fantastic artist" whose work they "both really admire", Doctor Who: Whispering Gallery (due out February 29th) promises to be another great release from IDW.
