Icecanoes on Spiridon!

OK. Maybe I’m exaggerating a little, but NASA scientists really have discovered ice volcanoes on Saturn’s moon, Titan.

Those of you who remember the Jon Pertwee story Planet of the Daleks will remember the icecanoes on the planet Spiridon that the Dalek’s diverted to cryogenically freeze an entire Dalek army. Well, now we know that such volcanoes exist!

Rather than erupting molten rock, Titan’s “cryovolcanoes” are thought to ooze a slurry made of water ice, ammonia and methane.

How cool is that??? [Pun intendid!]
