OBITUARY – Ian Collier (Died 1st October 2008)

It is with sadness that Kasterborous.com marks the passing of Ian Collier, an actor who played several key roles in Doctor Who’s 45 year history, both on screen and in audio adventures. He first appeared in the Jon Pertwee story The Time Monster as Stuart Hyde (one of the unwitting assistants to the disguised Master’s time experiments) and opposite Peter Davison as the second actor to play the role of Omega in Arc of Infinity.

He reprised the role of Omega for the Big Finish production named, rather aptly, Omega. He appeared in two more Big Finish audio plays as Bernice Summerfield’s father, Isaac, in Death And The Daleks and as Commissar Erco Sallis in Excelis Decays.

Ian first appeared on television in the 60s and made a name for himself in the 70s in various shows such as The Pathfinders, The Duchess of Duke Street and Rentaghost. He also appeared in character roles in Cribb,Danger UXB, Boon and Minder in the 80s with starring roles in sit-coms like Hi-De-Hi! and Are You Being Served?

Ian died on 1st October of unspecified causes.
