Announcement Imminent?

With Doctor Who’s 45th birthday tomorrow (checkout our giveaway if you haven’t already!) and the world waiting on the name of David Tennant’s successor, some betting outlets have suspended play, fuelling rumours of an imminent announcement.

What better tactic from BBC Cardiff than to release the news – to which apparently David Tennant has been privy to – on the 45th anniversary of Doctor Who.

Names linked with televisions biggest starring role of have ranged from those pictured (top left to bottom right: James Nesbitt, Chiwetel Ejiofor Colin Salmon, Rhys Ifans, Paterson Joseph, David Morrissey, Robson Green, Sean Pertwee, James Frain) to even more outlandish suggestions such as Catherine Tate or Billie Piper, or even David Tennant’s own favourite, Wee Jimmy Krankie.

According to Odds Checker, only Victor Chandler offering prices at the time of writing this piece. Betfair continue to update their prices also.

Two of the top 5 favourites considered at these sites are black – an interesting state of affairs.

With much withdrawing of prices from bookies, the feeling is that we may soon know the name of the Eleventh Doctor.
