Tom Baker on BBC One 9pm!

That’s right – the near legend that is Tom Baker appears as host on tonight’s Have I Got News For You!

The man himself has rather bizarrely been put in charge of Ian Hislop, Paul Merton, and guest panelists MP Vince Cable and comedian Chris Addison.

There’s plenty of likelihood of a good laugh at the very least, if not at Tom’s much-expected appearance then at regulars Merton and Hislop.

Personally, I can’t wait – now stick the telly on!

UPDATE

Well wasn’t that fun?!

Tom proves once again what a master of timing he is, and looked to be enjoying himself immensely.

Traditionally filmed on a Thursday evening, there was curiously no mention of the departure of the current Doctor, David Tennant – of course, Tom Baker is famously fond of his own era and dismissive of all others, so we shouldn’t read too much into that.

Eagle eyed regular viewers will have noticed that only half of the usual number of rounds were played, with hopefully more to come in the BBC Two version Have I Got More News For You on Saturday evening…
