Audio Actor Andrew Sachs in Phone Row

Actor Andrew Sachs – best known as Fawlty Towers‘ hapless Spanish waiter Manuel and the man who took on the mantle of Skagra in the 2003 BBC and Big Finish (re-)co-production of Shada opposite Paul McGann and Lalla Ward, as well as the role of The Scorpion King in 2008’s The Boy That Time Forgot, is at the centre of a storm that doesn’t seem to want to die this week.

The actor was due to appear on the Russell Brand BBC Radio Two show a couple of weeks back, but for one reason or another didn’t make it to the phone as arranged, leading Brand and guest Jonathan Ross to leave messages on Sachs’ voicemail – messages that became more and more lewd an inappropriate as the show dragged on.

You can find out more about the phonecalls, the reaction from Sachs and one of the common themes of the call – Andrew Sachs’ racy granddaughter Georgia Baillie – at Quintessential Comedy
