BBC Says No McGann

The BBC has refuted allegations that former Doctor Who star Paul McGann is set to make a return in on of the 2009 specials.

September’s biggest Doctor Who news so far has been dealt a blow early on, with hordes of Doctor Who fans crying into their strawberry milkshakes at the BBC denial.

A spokeswoman for Doctor Who told Digital Spy:

"There is no truth to the story at all."

Evidently, the Sun – the source of the "news" – had been trawling the Doctor Who mega-community at the old Outpost Gallifrey forum and picked up the news from a poster with a good hitrate in these rumour things (reprinted here).

So – no McGann, it seems. Although of course there is a glimmer of hope, until the man himself denies it, or he’s seen filming…
