Torchwood: Children of Earth

Is this the new name for Torchwood? Coined to distinguish it from the teenaged silliness of the BBC Two series?

Starring Eve Myles, the series has recently been shooting in Mount Stuart Square on Cardiff Bay, and while there is no mention in the report of any other cast members – leaving certain things to be confirmed – at least Eve looks stunning in those black boots. A crew member said:

“I can’t give anything away, but this series has a lot of surprises in store for viewers.

“Eve is great, so easy to work with. She’s lovely and good fun on set, but a true professional too.”

He added that Cardiff had proved to be an excellent choice as a filming location.

“What makes our job so much easier is that the people of Cardiff are so supportive,” he said. “The businesses around this area could make things difficult for filming but they are being so cooperative.”

The single five-part story that comprises the third series of Torchwood will be helmed by Euros Lyn, a director previously responsible for some of Doctor Who’s recent successes.

Apparently Executive Producer Russell T Davies told production staff:

“I usually give you all one or two tone words when we have a meeting like this, but if I were to give you two words this time, they would be ‘Euros Lyn’.

“More than ever before, this series of Torchwood will be director-led, and it will look absolutely amazing.”

The series is expected to air in Spring 2009.
