Tom Baker in Marple

Legendary Fourth Doctor Who star Tom Baker makes a welcome return to the airwaves this evening in the latest installment of ITV’s Marple series, based on the adventures of Agatha Christie’s mature lady sleuth.

We really don’t get enough of Tom Baker on telly these days, and I reckon if some one sent him a decent script that caught his imagination then he would be well up for it. This latest appearance in the often hit and miss Marple series looks like the great man of Doctor Who taking the oppurtunity to work with Ms McEwan…

Star Geraldine McEwan makes her last appearance as Miss Marple, with Tom Baker on fine form as the doomed Treves, loyal friend to Lady Tressilian who holds a house party to which Miss Marple is invited.

The typical murder and intrigue ensues, with local policeman Alan Davies attempting to sort things out and ending up relying on Agatha Christie’s finest creation to unravel the mystery.

Marple airs on ITV1, Sunday Aug 3rd at 8pm
