HG Well’s Sonic Screwdriver

A Welsh theatre group has successfully acquired a sonic screwdriver toy – for a play about HG Wells.

The Pontlliw Players recently launched an appeal for a sonic screwdriver prop or toy for use in their play A Musical Journey, which opens this weekend.

Bob Edwards takes the lead role of HG Wells, who incredulously travels through time to take in some musicals. I had no idea Wells was that way inclined. Edwards said:

“We had built the sets and designed costumes, but we couldn’t seem to find a sonic screwdriver anywhere. As the play is about time travel, we really needed the prop, which is seen in Doctor Who shows.”

“Everyone at Pontlliw Players is over the moon with the prop. Now we’ve got everything in place, we can’t wait for the show to begin.”

The day was saved thanks to workers at Swansea’s Asda store, who read of the players’ dilemma and got in touch – just in time for the performance on Friday and Saturday evenings at Pontlliw Village Hall, Pontlliw.
