Doctor Who Shooting in America?

Rumours have gathered pace on this idea, with The News of the World finally publising on Sunday that the final two episodes of Doctor Who to be produced by Russell T Davies will feature filming in the USA

"Hmm, let me see… my last bit of Doctor Who, can’t really devote a full year to it but if we budget it as a two part drama of type X, we can spend about half a standard series’ budget on it… Mr Tennant, get your passport!"

Those words might well have drifted through Russell T Davies’ mind in some order or other (or not) if anything in this particular rumour – and there are many around right now – is true.

The BBC insider – for there can only be one – apparently let slip:

"Doctor Who already has a huge following in the States. It’s on the Sci Fi Channel and is watched by millions of people there every week.

"But two specials in America, with a US setting and a US assistant, will take it to another level. David Tennant is already gaining a huge following and this will make him really hot property."

An American assistant? Thought it had been done.
