There’s more news on the Colin Baker front – he’s coming to a house near you! Well, not quite but if the news keeps rolling in like this, don’t be too surprised to see him doorstepping!
Along with Terry Molloy, (Davros on screen between 1984-1988 and since in a series of Big Fnish productions) and Nicholas Courtney (who played Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart in the 1970s and returns to the role on TV in the next run of The Sarah Jane Adventures), Colin Baker will be appearing at the Doctor Who Day at Lanchester Community Centre, Lanchester, County Durham between 10.30am and 5.30pm next Saturday (August 23rd).
Local resident George Hastings is a composer and friend of Colin Baker, and even has a Dalek in his living room.
“Colin and I have worked together for a number of years and when I moved to Lanchester I started to get involved with community work.
“We had a request to do a Dr Who event so I spoke to Colin and he agreed to come along with some of the other stars.”
“We want it to become a family event. Colin is a lovely chap and there will be a lot of opportunities for people to sit down and have a chat with him.”
George admits to finding it a little unnerving having a dalek at home watching his every move.
“It is sitting in my office watching me work,” he said.
This looks to be a great Doctor Who event in the North East, and might even be a local competitor to the sluggish Dimensions events. Tickets for The Doctor Who Day at Lanchester (near Durham) are £12 for adults, £25 for families and £7 concessions; further more information can be found by calling (01207) 521 271.
