RTD: No More Scripts

Russell T Davies has signalled his intention to quit writing for Doctor Who once Steven Moffat takes over in 2010.

Replying to an online Questions & Answer session on the BBC News site, the outgoing Executive Producer – who remains in charge for the series of specials in 2009 – revealed that he wasn’t in Steven Moffat’s plans…

I think Steven’s more than his own man. He doesn’t need me at all.

I won’t write for it in the future. I’m done with it.

It’s time to move on and I’d hate to be just a ghost haunting the corridors that I used to walk.

And who needs me? Because Steve’s brilliant and they’ve got a thousand million plans. I’ll just be old news and it’s about time.

2010 is set to be a huge year for British television: a new Doctor Who production team, and elsewhere a new project for RTD…
