Legend Reborn

Russell T Davies has revealed to Doctor Who Magazine why Dalek creator Davros has been held back until season 30.

Speaking in issue 371, the outgoing Doctor Who Executive Producer revealed that it was all down to planning, and reinvigorating the Daleks.

"To be honest, I wasn’t in a rush because sometimes, in those old stories, Davros would dominate the Daleks to the extent that they became simple foot soldiers there to do his bidding – like plain robots instead of the scheming geniuses that they are."

"But I’ve had three years to establish their intelligence. It’s time to bring back their creator and see what happens. It has given the legend time to build."

It has to be said – the time was right for Davros to return.
