Fifth Doctor on Teesside – No One Tells Kasterborous!

Only slightly miffed to find out yesterday that Fifth Doctor Peter Davison was on Teesside yesterday, although exactly why he was there I’m having trouble getting my head around.

(NB Southerners: Teesside is the bit between North Yorkshire and Durham, and is where you would find Middlesbrough Football Club, as well as the North East wing of Kasterborous Towers!)

So why was Davo on Teesside? Promote a skills training scheme at a giant ASDA port-side depot, what else?!

And rather than use a Tardis to travel through time and space, he hopped on a narrow aisle truck instead.

The trucks trundle around the 360,000 sq ft import depot, which opened two years ago and receives shipments for sorting and sending to nine Asda distribution centres.

Peter, who first became a household name as vet Tristan Farnon in the North Yorkshire-based TV series All Creatures Great and Small, said: "Whatever line of work people are in, training should play an integral part.

"The value of learning new skills has been key to my profession of acting."

I’d take a narrow aisle truck over a TARDIS any day…
