Sontaran Stratagem Preview

The Sontaran Stratagem brings Doctor Who back to Earth with a bump this Saturday at 6.20-7.05pm BBC One, as Martha Jones summons the Doctor back to modern-day Earth.

Yet an old enemy lies in wait, and with the mysterious ATMOS devices spreading across the world, Donna discovers that even her own family is not safe from the alien threat – but is it too late to save them?

With Freema Agyeman finally back in the fold as the lovely Martha Jones, and joining the David Tennant as the Doctor, Catherine Tate as Donna Noble and dimunitive character actor Christopher Ryan guest starring as lead Sontaran General Staal, The Sontaran Stratagem has instant classic written all over it.

Newsround’s Lizo has reviewed the episode, reporting back that:

We… get to find out a bit more about Donna’s family, one of the great things about Doctor Who is that we don’t just follow The Doctor around on his adventures, we see how it all affects his companions’ home life back on Earth.

It manages to be an exciting, fast-paced 45 minutes which, while not as emotional as the last two episodes, keeps up the superb momentum that this fourth series has had so far.

He also throws a 4 out of 5 grade at it, but as his grades are based on nothing of any real value (4 out of 5 for Partners in Crime – are you MAD?!) we’ll leave that to one side, and observe that generally his review backs up what we’re expecting from the episode – thrills, Martha, Sontarans and the long awaited proper return of UNIT!
