Doctor Who Top Trumps is Here!

The cool portable hardware magazine Pocket Gamer has featured an interview with Eidos’ George Wright on the topic of the new Doctor Who Top Trumps, including news of a release date!

A full page ad for the game is in the current Radio Times, but that is the first anyone has seen of the game for months – luckily this is due to lots of hard work on the developers part!

This interview concerns the release of the Nintendo DS version of the game… which is based on the recent modern series packs of battle cards.

Different modes are available:

There’s an adventure mode for unlocking cards and characters and a Quick Play option for a fast way to satisfy your Top Trumps addiction. Ability Cards and character Special Abilities are available to enhance the gameplay but can be disabled if you want to go back to basics. In addition, we have three mini-games which will test your knowledge of the deck and your observation skills.

We have a Data Core included in the game where unlocked card statistics and descriptions are presented for the player.

One of the great things about portable gaming gear these days is the ability to network, and Doctor Who Top Trumps comes fully featured in that respect!

We do have a wireless multiplayer mode, which we’re very excited about. It is single card download play so only one game card is required. We’ve had many challenges in the office.

Doctor Who Top Trumps is due for release on May 16th – not long now!
