Christmas 2008 Special

We’ve been trying to avoid reporting on this for weeks now as the 2008 series is underway and knowing that the Doctor survives could spoil things for you.

However it has been all over the press that the Doctor visits a 19th century Christmas in this years special, which guest stars David Morrissey, Tennant’s co-star from the BBC One drama Blackpool. Newsround has been activated by the BBC for low-key damage limitation, with the following (slightly spoilery if you don’t read newspapers):

The area around Gloucester Cathedral was covered with fake snow and a security guard sat in front of the Tardis, which was covered with a sheet.

Pretend mourners in Victorian costume marched in front of a horse-drawn cart carrying a coffin.

The actual plot is top secret, but it’s thought to feature the Doctor’s deadliest enemies, the Cybermen.
