Invasion Convention Review

Doctor Who convention Invasion took place last weekend, and while it featured a long list of guests from the show’s long history one in particular stood out – Tom Baker!

Organised by 10th Planet, (based at Vicarage Field Shopping Centre, Barking), the convention was held at Dagenham’s Jo Richardson School.

It’s generally agreed that Fourth Doctor Tom Baker was the main attraction.

"It takes me back to old times. I could do conventions every single weekend if I wanted to. I could go to the US or Australia, because it’s a worldwide thing.

"I’ve given it up now, but because I know the organisers and they asked me at the right time, I said yes.

"They are long days. I left home before 7am and I won’t be back until after 9pm. But I’m revitalised by the children. I finished 30 years ago. It’s a perfect example of nostalgia."

We should also add that Kasterborous favourite Paul McGann – who once almost watched Liverpool v Arsenal with myself, Brian Terranova, forum member Prof Peach and Kasterborous artist and fellow scouser Anthony Dry – was also there.

One fan perfectly summed up the magic of Tom Baker:

"Tom Baker doesn’t do conventions normally. His last one was eight years ago. He’s an absolute legend. The stuff he comes out with you just want to write it down.

No argument from us.
