Doctor Who Video Game Update

More information has come to light surrounding the details of the upcoming Doctor Who Top Trumps video game from Eidos.

The next issue of GamesMaster – available tomorrow in UK newsagents – reveals the first info on the as yet to be officially titled Doctor Who game that mixes the characters with the classic stat-battling card game, Top Trumps.

Release is expected to be on the 3 largest platforms, Nintendo DS, PC and Sony PS2, and to two players will battle as the latest Doctor Who, with additional characters – including Martha Jones and Captain Jack – becoming available as play progresses. Each character has their own special ability – the Doctor, for example, can sneak a look at his opponent’s cards by bending time.

Visually, the game is similar to the cartoon Doctor Who series, The Infinite Quest, with animation studio Firestep apparently working closely with game developer Ironstone to create a vibrant look for the game.

While the game is likely to only truly appeal to fans of Doctor Who, the fact that over 650,000 Doctor Who Top Trump packs have been sold indicates a successful takeup of the game on its release.
