Tennant Not Leaving!

Rumours have persisted for some months now (well, let’s face it since the chap started) that David Tennant would be leaving Doctor Who halfway through Series 4. RTD, however, has other ideas (and, well, he should know!)

TVScoop.tv report that:

Russell T Davies has confirmed that David Tennant, voted the most popular Doctor ever, will stay at the controls of the TARDIS for the whole of the next series. He dismissed rumours that Tennant would be leaving after only six episodes as a “complete invention” by the press.

This has apparently come from Doctor Who Magazine, although I’m unable to confirm or deny this as mine hasn’t come yet.

So great news there for fans of the Tenth Doctor, who incidentally will be switching on Blackpool Lights on August 31st, reports The Stage. Apparently:

The illuminations will also have a burlesque theme, with a new section called Decodance, created by celebrity designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen. It will also feature a Doctor Who lights display inspired by the TV Time Lord.

Councillor Tony Williams, cabinet member for culture and communities, added: “It is truly an incredible achievement that we are able to combine a Time Lord from the future with a series of amazing entertainment from the past to offer an incredible star-studded range of different and exhilarating experiences during the 2007 Switch On event.”

Burlesque Doctor Who?! Billie Piper as a Pussycat Girl?!

OK, I made that last bit up. Sounds like a great display.

Faye TozerFinally, speaking of public appearances, the Daleks are – as many of you will be aware of now – appearing in the Aladdin: The 3D Adventure of a Lifetime pantomime in Newcastle in December and January. Not only is that rather exciting, but it seems that one of their co-stars is none other than ex-Steps babe Faye Tozer who in the interests of having some totty on the Kasterborous news pages, is pictured here. Faye had hits with a cover of the Bee Gees’ “Tragedy” and “A Deeper Shade of Blue” while a member of Steps.

Interestingly Faye toured the UK in the musical Me and My Girl opposite Sylvester McCoy… no word however on whether Faye Tozer has any interest in Burlesque Doctor Who.

Faye Tozer!
