It’s 1913 in England and war has come a year in advance as the terrifying Family hunt for the Doctor. But, while John Smith refuses to accept his destiny as a Time Lord, the women in his life, Martha and Joan, have to take terrible measures to save the whole of history, as Russell T Davies’s Doctor Who continues.

David Tennant plays the Doctor and Freema Agyeman plays his companion, Martha Jones. Jessica Hynes and Thomas Sangster guest star.

And speaking of The Family of Blood, their youngest member is played by Lauren Wilson of High Wycombe, reports Bucks Free Press, who also spoke to the actress.

“I am a huge, huge fan of Dr Who and watch every episode, long may it reign,” Lauren laughs.

“It was very exciting to star in such a big television show. This was a dream role for me.”

What did she think though of lovely Freema and dashing David…?

“Freema Agyeman (Dr Who’s new assistant) is really cool and a very good actress,” she says. She also enjoyed working alongside Dr Who himself: “David Tennant is a very good actor and is the best Dr Who to date,” she says.

She’s a quick learner, this one…

Almost as proud as a new father, Paul Cornell has posted another entry on his current Doctor Who adventure in his excellent Blog. t seems reaction to the episode has been overwhelming:

We’re going to wander off into a forest over the weekend, but we’ll have computer and mobile with us, so I’m hoping to hear reactions and then be able to go and lie down in a glade. This really has been the most lovely week for me, and the online reaction to the first episode continues to stun me, so thank you all very much.

Finally, the excellent FreemaAgyeman.com fansite has some grand pictures from The Family of Blood – get them viewed!
