Just Who is Simon Pegg?

Speculation has been rife on the Internet for months regarding the part Simon Pegg (“Spaced”, “Shaun of the Dead”; narrator of BBC3’s Doctor Who Confidential) would play in the series – initially he was expected to appear in a different episode (possibly as Rose’s father) but he now appears as a character known as “the Editor” in Episode 7 The Long Game by Russell T Davies. The Scotsman have run this tidbit:

ACTOR Simon Pegg has revealed he has been cast as a “spectacular” villain called The Editor in the new series of Dr Who.

He makes a cameo appearance in episode seven of the sci-fi show, as controller of the 500th floor of a mysterious building from which time travellers do not return.

The Sean Of The Dead and Spaced actor, 35, said his cameo role alongside Christopher Eccleston’s Doctor and Billie Piper’s Rose Tyler, was “a real honour and a bit of dream come true”.

Other rumours regarding Simon Pegg’s role are that he is playing the Master – he earlier admitted however that he would “not be playing a young Davros”.
