International Who

Two big items on the international broadcast front – Doctor Who has premiered on CBC in Canada, and the Australian broadcaster ABC has confirmed that they have purchased the series to air.

ABC have announced the broadcast of Doctor Who from mid May this year – previous Doctors have had their travels broadcast on the same channel. ABC’s Head of Programming Marena Manzoufas said:

“This is Dr Who, 21st century-style, and it most definitely will appeal to people who are new to the Dr Who phenomenon, as well as long-term fans,”

So congratulations Australian Doctor Who Fans, get ready for the trip of a lifetime! (the full article can be read here at news.com.au)

Of course over in Canada, Rose aired just a few hours ago. Audience reaction is yet to be confirmed, but we’ll be taking a look at it when it is. (Incidentally, the CBC is running this

fantastic mini-site – come on BBC, you can do better!)

As for the rest of the world, you truly don’t know what you’re missing!
