New Series Casting News

Popular behemoth UK Sci-fi Magazine SFX has published 3 new series photographs in its latest issue – 3 revealing photographs…

Initially one sees a Dalek silhouette, Rose (Billie Piper) holding an ornate mug, and an alien. Closer scrutiny, however, reveals (we think…) the alien to be none other than Stephen Yardley. Yardley is a British character actor of repute, having appeared in shows such as “Danger Man”, “The Champions”, “War and Peace”, “The Professionals”, “Day of the Triffids”, “Howard’s Way”, “Remington Steele”, “Heartbeat”, “Bugs”, and more recently soap opera “Family Affairs” and teen fantasy “Hex”.

Stephen Yardley is also an actor who has previously appeared in Doctor Who – as Sevrin in Genesis of the Daleks and Arak in Vengeance on Varos. If this is Stephen Yardley, his casting marks the first instance of an actor appearing in the original run of Doctor Who and the new production.

The SFX annotation to the picture describes it as “a candid picture from episode three” – this would mean the image is from the Mark Gatiss story The Unquiet Dead.

Other casting news from SFX includes the appearance of Corey Johnson (Agent Clay in “Hellboy”) and occasional “SG-1″ actress Anna-Louise Plowman. Both are said to be appearing in the as-yet-unnamed episode 6 – Rob Shearman’s Dalek story…
